OUR CHURCH BACKGROUND

The Blue Penguin Church was called into being in October 2007, and there followed 36 months of planning and preparation before its Pastor could return to New Zealand, after completing16 years of ministry in Australia.  We started here in Oamaru on 31 January 2010.

The Oamaru Blue Penguin Church comes under the Foursquare Gospel Church of New Zealand, and is part of an 8 million strong,  worldwide Church which has been operating since 1902 in over 160 countries.

The Foursquare Gospel Church movement resulted from the evangelistic ministry of Aimee Semple McPherson, who opened the historic Angelus Temple in Los Angeles on Jan 1, 1923.  From the earliest days, local and foreign missions were a primary emphasis and this remains so with our own church here.
